I really enjoy using the stippling technique when I'm creating art. The stippling technique is using pen ink (one colour) to apply tone and texture with small dots, it can be a long and tiresome process but can be really striking even when just using the one colour.
The definition of Stipple in Dutch is "to make points" which is quite fitting. Many artists use the stippling technique to express many different subjects, from portraits, animals and landscapes to typography, illustrations and tattoo designs.
